Summary

During this workshop, members of our Legal Advisory Board (LAB) will work through a variety of compliance scenarios with attendees to analyze potential response and develop strategies to survive the adventure. We will cover a variety of compliance scenarios including:

HIPAA and Privacy

Compliance considerations regarding the use, disclosure, and protection of patient information arises in a variety of situations. We will start with proactive considerations such as the implementation of a data sharing to support a value-based payment arrangement or assessment of compliance risks related to a new AI tool. From there, we will transition to evaluating potential breach scenarios ranging from simple misdirected disclosures to phishing, hacking, and ransomware.

Corporate Compliance Program

Stay one step ahead of the game with our insights into proactive compliance and the latest updates from the Department of Justice (DOJ). We'll equip you with the knowledge and tools to navigate the ever-changing regulatory landscape. No more surprises!

Internal Investigations vs. Enforcement Actions

This presentation will outline essential policies to ensure that routine record requests and audits don’t escalate into more serious issues. We'll evaluate the key issues that should trigger internal investigations, including how to initiate these investigations effectively. We’ll cover the involvement of external experts and legal counsel, as well as the necessary steps for disclosures and refunds.

In addition, we’ll address handling external investigations by your state Attorney General or federal agencies such as the DOJ or OIG. This includes strategies for preserving information, responding to formal requests, and managing investigation outcomes. These legal mandates and best practices are designed to minimize or extinguish the risk exposure for coders, auditors, and other compliance professionals, ensuring your organization remains protected and compliant.

But wait, there's more! In the last hour of the workshop, we're throwing open the floor for an exciting Q&A session. Our panelists, experts in legal trends and issues in healthcare, will be ready to tackle any burning questions you have. It's your chance to pick their brains and gain valuable insights.

So, join us for a day filled with knowledge, engaging discussions, and maybe even a few surprises along the way. Don't miss out on this opportunity to level up your understanding of legal issues in healthcare and revenue cycle management. See you there!
