New Year's Claims System Problems Continue

Add another claims payment system problem to the list, and this one may require effort on your part.

"Many HH claims are currently suspending to status location SB9099," HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA says on its website. "These claims are not processing."

Do this: "If providers are experiencing financial difficulty, they may request an accelerated payment," Palmetto advises.

You should now be able to secure reimbursement for claims impacted by reason code 17801, CMS says. A fix for that problem went in Feb. 7.

"Providers may immediately resubmit any claims that have been returned to them for reason code 17801 so that they may be paid as soon as possible after the fix has been installed and verified," Palmetto says on its website. "Such claims will be suspended pending the installation of the fix. As soon as contractors have verified the fix, they will release any claims that are being held for that reason code."

Cahaba GBA "pulled back" such RTP'd claims for reprocessing, it notes on its website. "No provider action is required."

Claims submitted after Jan. 5 were suspended and should process, HHH MAC NHIC says on its website.
