The median yearly income for California medical coders, billers, auditors, and other healthcare business professionals is $80,431, compared to the Pacific region’s overall median income of $75,437.

Our 2024 salary survey shows that the highest-paid people in California working in the business of healthcare make an average $105,417 and hold the CEDC credential, among others.

The top three employers of healthcare business professionals in the state are hospitals (both outpatient & inpatient depts), health systems, and large group practices (50+ physicians.

Roughly 61.2 percent of healthcare business professionals in California work remotely, earning an average $82,268. A reported 22.4 percent work on site, earning an average $71,343, and 16.4 percent work partly onsite and partly remote (hybrid), earning an average $86,033.
