Hi all,

my Physician performed sigmoidoscopy and also vaginoscopy to rule out rectovaginal fistula.sigmoidoscopy goes with 45330 CPT but
vaginoscopy does not have CPT code.I tried to look into colposcopy(57420) but the description says entire vagina .
any inputs appreciated.

Thank you

57420 is the code for colposcopy of entire vagina, with cervix if present. If your physician did not use a colposcope, then I do not believe the vaginoscopy is billable. If a colposcope was used, but physician did not view entire vagina, then perhaps 57420-52.

Hi all thank u for replies.
Yes physician used speculum and he used scope to see posterior vaginal wall to rule out rectovaginal fistula.
After some research I found out that vaginoscopy is not billable because he did not use colposcope here and he just examined posterior wall of vagina.
