Could I please get some input on what would be used for unclogging a nasogastric tube?
I am wanting to use an unlisted procedure code but my employer is wanting to use 49460 ( removal obstructve material for gastrostomy, jejunostomy, ect).
I don't feel comfortable using that because it states specifically for gastrostomy.
Any suggestions?

In this case, I can only give a SUGGESTION since I do not have the report in front of me. E/M guidelines state that this is listed under the E/M service and is not coded separately. Are you in an ASC? Can you send the note to me to review?
