Hello, I have a question about this procedure for the 45171 - Excision of Rectal TUMOR transanal approach
not including muscularis propria ( IE partial thickness).
Can anyone tell me the difference between a polyp and a tumor.... because path came back for this procedure as a inflamed Polyp
nothing states tumor in any note... Dr. clearly states in preop and post op that this is a polyp .
He did perform a transanal approach and excised with cautery he did not go full thickness through the wall of the rectum
and states clearly benign.
Could this not be a polypectomy since this was a polyp or are these polyp also considered a tumor ??
Thanks,
Carol
