I code for neurosurgeons physician side. When he documents on a hospital chart for a TLSO back brac,e do I charge fracture care CPT 22310, even though he isn't the one putting it on? He says yes because he is doing the plan and aftercare. Thanks Karen
 
My providers will order TLSO brace for patient - they do NOT apply the brace - they have NOT performed restorative procedure - typically the TLSO brace is for comfort while the fracture is healing - We do not code/bill for fracture care in these cases. AAOS should have direction regarding requirements needed to bill this - I would also check carrier guidelines. My initial thought is no.
