When would J70.5 be used versus T59.811A-T59.814A?

If patient is admitted for smoke inhalation and also has second-degree burn. Which code would be used for smoke inhalation?

Thanks,
Hollie

it actually takes both codes. You code the T59.8--- code first listed and the J70.5 code secondary. You need one to indicate the toxicity to the substance and ypou need one to indicate the condition caused by the toxicity. The guidelines tells you that The T code for the substance of the toxicity or poisoning is first listed.
