Doctor did a shaved penile biopsy of a lesion that was 2mm in size. He said he did not take the whole lesion just part of it. Would I code this as 54100, 11305, or 11100? Any help would be appreciated. I work for a urology office and these procedures get me every time.

Thank you. Does anyone know if the patient had 3 biopsies done can I code for 54100, 54100.59, 54100.59 or can you only bill for the 54100 one time?

Per DermCoder.com, you would bill 54100, 54100-76, 54100-76. However, if you are billing Medicare, be prepared to get a denial and to appeal it with records, because per the Medicare Unlikely Edits, they consider any more than two at at time to be a probable billing error.
