The patient presents for a visit stating that two weeks ago, she experienced vaginal burning and discharge. She treated herself with OTC Monistat, and her symptoms resolved.
She would like to have a test run to see if she has a lingering infection.
The provider runs a NuSwab, which returns negative for all infections.
The provider ordered an office visit 99213 with diagnosis Z11.3 (Encounter for screening for infections with a predominantly sexual mode of transmission.)

I am questioning whether this visit meets the definition of a screening service? What are your thoughts? If you disagree, what other diagnosis would you select?

Thank you!

I'm thinking the test was ordered because of her symptoms, vaginal burning and discharge. Their checking for any lingering infection. I would code N89.8
