Can a RN perform procedures(IUI 58322) on a patient when the provider is NOT in the office? Please reference any sites/links that I can also refer to.

In 58322, the physician dilates the cervix and inserts a long flexible tube into the cavity of the uterus. Semen is injected into the uterus by a syringe connected to the tube. I don't think this procedure should be done by a RN, without supervision on a Physician.

Cannot bill if the provider is not in the office.

From Encoder Pro Coding Tips:
"These procedures may be performed by a registered nurse, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or other trained paramedical person under a physician's supervision."
