I am really getting myself confused. In Chapter 1 second line states: Use additional code to identify resistance to antimicrobial drugs (Z16..)

Does this mean that for each dx code in Chapter 1 there is one specific Z code; or do I need to know specifically from the provider which Z16 code it is?

examples are B37.3 and A60.04.

Any help and/or examples would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you, Karen

if there is no documented resistance to antimicrobial drugs or antibiotics (ie condition does not respond to drug therapy) you can ignore the Use Additional.

Examples are

Resistance to anti fungals (Z16.32)

Resistance to multiple antimicrobial drugs (Z16.35)

Resistance to vancomycin related antibiotics (Z16.22)
