Doctor performed intermediate repair (deep) for biopsy & wants to know if it can be coded. Biopsies include only simple repairs. To code 11100 & 12032 would deny because the biopsy would be included in the repair. But it was not the intent to take a specimen from a repair. How would it be coded (and paid)? Thanks very much!
 
If it is indeed deep, use the soft-tissue biopsy codes instead of 11100...

21550-27613 depending on size and depth

Example

21920 Biopsy, soft tissue of back or flank; superficial
21925 Biopsy, soft tissue of back or flank; deep

These include layered closure.
