I need some help in coding an unusual situation when removing spinal stimulator. The provider states he had to use endoscopy to remove the electrodes as they were displaced. He wants to bill for the endoscopy for retrieval of foreign body in addition to the 63661 and 63688. He coded 62163 but explained that is for intracranial....the stimulator is in lower spine. Is there a code for this? I feel the best he could do is append 22 modifier to 63661 as it created additional work and time? Thanks in advance for any help or opinions...
