Hi All!
I'm drawing a blank on this, but one of my docs re-admitted a patient who had a 53502 on 8/28/21 and was having issues with urine leaking from the closure. Even though it's a new hospitalization, it would still be a post-op visit, because it's a complication of the surgery, correct?
Thank you!!!

I would agree. Unless you have documentation to support a modifier 24 for other issues being addressed, the portion of the new admission E/M services that are related to the surgery would be part of the global period.

Some private and commercial carriers will pay for the hospital visits, (treatment of complications) if clearly documented, but Medicare will not. Bill with modifier 24 and a separate diagnosis for the complication.
