Hi, one of the ortho surgeons I work with did a hospital consult on a patient and diagnosed patient with an elbow dislocation. He did Not reduce the dislocation, said it did not need to be reduced, but he is insisting I bill 24600 because he is "treating" her for the dislocation. Has anyone ever come across this situation. He did not do anything for the elbow, how can he bill 24600? TIA.

The coding companion states that the physician "manually reduces (realigns) the dislocation with pressure to the area" and afterwards the elbow may be put into a splint or brace.

Diagnosed, yes. Treated ???
