We have a patient that has a port and needs to be flushed. We are going to start her on Benlysta, but she needs her port flushed while we wait on her labs. Any advise from others that have a patient or knowledge about infusing/flushing a patient with a port?

Thank you,
Dorothy

A port flush can be coded with 96523 if that was the only service performed. It is incidental to any infusion service per the NCCI edits, so wouldn't be coded separately if any drug administration through the port was done at the same encounter.
