Hi,

I have a optometris that seen a patient for a follow up for Plaquenil. The patient is currently still taking the medicine as she has rheumatoid arthritis. My provider is billing 92083, 92283,V2799 with DX 367.4. I am still new to optometry coding. My question is 92083 isnt this included in 92283? Also for a Plaquenil checkup the primary dx code should be V58.69 and secondary 714.0? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

If the pt has no pathology, I would use V58.69 and secondary 714.0. I haven't ever billed 92283 separately but as far as I know there's no CCI edit between it and 92083. I would think the doctor would be performing and charging for an exam of some kind, though, and 92283 is usually included in the exam charge. I can't speak to V2799 without knowing what it's for, but if it's some kind of glasses charge, then 367.4 would work. I don't usually see that CPT on its own, though.

Hope this helps!
