Looking for some guidance on coding a pt that returned to the SNF after a fall with fracture. Pt has osteoporosis and it was a femur fracture, it was surgically repaired. I'm thinking it is M80.051D, therapy is telling me it Z47.89, because a pathological fracture is not a traumatic fracture. Please advise. Thank you

If you look at the beginning of the Z47 codes in the ICD-10 Coding Manual at the Excludes 1 - it states "aftercare for healing fracture - code to fracture with 7th character D. So whichever fracture dx code was used previously for the first visit should be reused with 7th character D. I hope this helps!
