I work for a pediatric practice and our doctors are also the staff pediatricians at a local hospital. I bill for their examination of newborns while they are still admitted to the hospital. For a normal newborn I usually bill v39.00 and any additional icd diagnosis codes, and 99460 for the CPT code. Is this correct, or should I be using v20.31? Or do I use both?

Thanks!!

I use V30.0? while inpatient, unless they have other issues (jaundice, etc.) V20.3? is for office well child visits.
