I have been audit 99478-99480 for many years till 2017. I have returned now and find that for primary Dx for procedures 99478-79 the primary codes are the birth weight codes vs the current weight code of the child that go with the respectivos CPT. Plus of course the other present DX the child has. Can someone help me here? That doesn’t sound right? I had always coded for those CPT codes as primary DX the weight of the DOS. Please if you know the rules on these codes in terms of the Wt Dx that go with CPT codes 99478 and 99479 I greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
