Instead of blood transfusion during surgery, my doctors are employing a blood filtering process, whereby the patient's own blood is filtered and then placed back into the patient. I don't believe this fits the definition of plasmapheresis, but I'm not sure. Is anyone dealing with a similar situation? Is there a separate CPT code for this process? Thank you!

Is the process apheresis (36511, 36512)? It might be best to ask one of them what is being filtered, and why?
