The new guidelines indicate that you can now bill Loose body removal if the portal is enlarged to remove it. When I put it in our software (Vitalware) with other codes it says mod not allowed. My understanding is that the G0289 is for MCR only. We had a seminar by Karen Zupko & Associates and one of the samples is a 15 year patient and the codes are 29881 and G0289. Our hospital does follow NCCI for all payers so I am assuming that is why the example has these codes ? How are others billing these codes ?
