HIM Coding Supervisor - Inpatient / Outpatient
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Hospital Inpatient coder (CIC) and Certified Hospital Outpatient Coder (COC)
3 years of coding ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
Considerable knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines
Reviews, analyzes, and assigns ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnoses and procedure codes as outlined by coding guidelines, Maintains quality and ethical coding standards, Performs DRG validation on random sampling of accounts as well as the appropriate principal diagnosis, secondary diagnosis, and any applicable procedures to ensure they are coded to the highest level of specificity and accurately depict the clinical picture. Will oversee the daily activity of the Coding staff. Communicates regularly with the Health Information Management Department Director regarding any issues or concerns in any area. Will train new coding staff as well as training of any new standard or updates of regulations. Will attend meeting with or in the absence of the Director of HIM
