Can someone explain the difference in coding S4981 verses 58300 for IUD insertion? PLEASE! :)

S4981 is specifically for the insertion of an LNg-IUD, which is a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine contraceptive system, such as, Mirena®, Liletta®, Skyla® or Kyleena™. CPT 58300 is for the insertion of any type of IUD, including copper IUDs. S4981 is not valid for Medicare purposes.

S4981 and 58300 are for the insertion of the device and do not include the IUD device, you still bill the appropriate J code for the specific device placed.
