We have recently begun coding/billing for an anesthesia group and we have questions regarding the billing of post operative inpt follow ups. The company who billed our anesthesia group before we took it on internally was billing 99231 for post operative visits when the anesthesiologist/CRNA saw the patient subsequent days after surgery and did not perform pump maintenance(01996). I am finding alot of gray area in my research to what constitutes being bundled into the surgical package. Does anyone have any guidance I can share with my coders?
