Is there an ICD9 dx code for normal skin? My provider is a dermatologist and did a bx and read the path as normal skin. I've questioned the provider and provider stated "it is just normal skin". Coding for bx is: cpt 11100 with dx 238.2 (neoplasm of uncertain behavior skin). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

238.2 is a dx rendered based on a path result of uncertain behavior. It is not a dx code for the provider is uncertain. If the path renders back as normal, you use the V71.1 first listed with the 709.9 secondary. If the claim for the bx has already been submitted with the 238.2 code you really should submit a correction.
