I am looking for information on billing and coding for home infusion therapy and supplies? I would appreciate any assistance you may provide.

I have a question...what type of Infusion are you supplying? I work in an Infectious disease practice and we provide IV antibiotics for pt's to self-infuse via PICC line @ home and the "per diem" code series S9500, S9494, S9501, etc is what we bill along with the J code & billing units for the drug. The per diem bundles many things together, supplies, line maintenance, access to on-call nursing/MD, coordination of care etc., but it varies by payer and we DO NOT provide home Infusion to Medicare/MCD pt.'s. Only commercial payors. You also have to check with each insurance to see if they require an authorization for the codes you are billing for that particular pt's plan. Some policies have a "Specialty Pharmacy clause" and require the patient to only use certain specialty pharmacies for their medicine.
Hope this helps!
