How do I code for a positive HLA- B27 test results. Should I use R76.8 or a B27 code? I cannot find any rules on this code. I code for rheumatology. Your help with this is much appreciated thank you.

You cannot assign a code from a laboratory test result, you would need to have the treating physician document their interpretation of what this result means for the patient and use that wording to assign the diagnosis code. I would not use R76.8 unless the provider has specifically documented that this is an abnormal result but has not given a definitive diagnosis.
