Patient has recurrent urinary tract infections. If the patient comes in and doesn't have a current UTI at this visit, do I use N39.0 or Z87.440?

Is that the reason for the encounter? for his/her UTI? or was his/her UTI an additional diagnosis they were monitoring/addressing?

If the UTI is no longer actively being treated then the appropriate way of coding it will be the history code Z87.440.
