I am trying to distiquish between 870.0 and 873.40. the notes said Note; Laceration on left upper eyelid with ecchymosis and abrasions" and I can't decide between the 2 codes. I am leaning towards 870.0 but I'm not sure. Any help in clearing up the difference between the 2 codes? Thanks
 
For laceration I would put 870.0 Ecchymosis is a bruise/hematoma. this would be 921.1 - you can put in addition. And abrasion in the same area would be 918.0 - you can add this as well if it is documented

870.0 is correct for laceration Eyelid
