I am new to Bariatric coding and I am trying to code an open RNY and a G tube placement. Codes 43846 and 43830. I know 43830 is a separate procedure code so does that mean it is part of the 43846? Can I code anything for the g tube placement.

Try adding a 59 onto the 43820. My encoder pro says they may not be billed together, but if performed, use the modifier.

According to Payer Path 43830 is a component code of 43846 and they may not be billed together even with a modifier

43846 GASTRIC BYPASS FOR OBESITY M Non-Facility RVU: 47.27
No bundling issues exist

43830 PLACE GASTROSTOMY TUBE M Non-Facility RVU: 20.12

Code 43830 is a component of Column 1 code 43846 and cannot be billed using any modifier.
