I have a doctor that did a intra-articular injection and is also billing to the Dexamethasone and Marcaine injections. My question would the two injections be included in the primary procedure?

Your intra-articular injection code would be 20610 (large joint), 20605 (intermediate joint) or 20600 (small joint). The Dexamethasone and Marcaine are normally injected together. "Caine's" are not billable because it is normally injected with a medication as an anesthetic and considered bundled into the injection. Therefore, only bill the J code that describes the Dexamethasone in the HCPCS book.

Don't forget to put the laterality modifier, LT or RT on the 20600/20605/20610. The J code for Dexamethasone is J1100.
