Hi... Our group just recently hired an EP Doctor and my Administrator asked me to post a few questions so that we can have a better understanding of how to schedule these studies plus the hospital requires the CPT Codes when scheduling... Any help with these questions would greatly be appreciated...

1. Are EP Studies and Ablations billed as a single CPT Code usually?
2. What CPT Code is used for a Flutter Isthmus Ablation?
3. What CPT Code is used for Atrial Fibrillation Ablation?
4. What are the three Primary Ablation CPT Codes?
5. When is AV Node Ablation Coded vs using the other CPT Codes?

1. Ablation codes have the EP Study bundled (or part of ) into the codes.
2. Ablation of SVT is 93653. Ablation of VT is 93654, Ablationof pulmonary vein isolation (A-Fib Ablation) is coded 93656. There are add-on codes: Ablation discrete and separate mechanism of arrhythmia - 93655 and Additional ablation of left or right atrium following pulmonary vein isolation (only use once)-936457,
3. AV Node ablation - 93650 - is the only code that can be charged.
