Hi, I have 2 questions & I greatly appreciate any feedback I can get!
1.) If a provider performs an ANTERIOR approach lumbar fusion (L4-5 & L5-S1) with COMPLETE diskectomy, is it appropriate to report the following codes:
CPT 22558, CPT 22585, HCPCS S2350, & HCPCS S2351?? CPT 22558 & 22585 only include a "minimal diskectomy to prepare the interspace" and this provider states that he performed a COMPLETE diskectomy; therefore, he's billing S2350 & S2351 as well.
2.) In reviewing the CPT manual, there are NO codes for anterior approach lumbar diskectomy for decompression. There are only anterior approach cervical & thoracic diskectomy codes for decompression (CPT 63075-63078). Why aren't there codes for the lumbar region? I feel like I must be missing something.
