Hello,

Has anyone ever coded for open repair of HAGL lesion in shoulder? The only code I can come up with is 23455? any help is greatly appreciated.
 
There are a few options in the open section. It depends on the work done. The most common I have seen is 23462 otherwise known as Latarjet. You're in the correct code range 23450-23466. If you have EnCoder Pro or a coding program, read the lay descriptions of each and check against your op note. For example, 23462 requires a coracoid process transfer. 23455 is basically an open Bankart. Did they use a proper name at all you can look for that too - like if you see they called it Putti-Platt. There are CPT Assistant references for almost all of these codes which you should check. In many years of ortho the two I have used most for open procedures are 23462 & 23466.
