I have a pt who had a gastric lap band placed, and 2 days later was admitted to the hospital with N/V, dehydration, gastric obstruction. My question... on the 4th day of hospitalization pt was taken to the OR for exploratory laparoscopy and unbuckling of the lap band (did not remove band). Would the primary pdx be considered a gastric lap band revision (cpt code 43771) only, or exploratory laparoscopy (cpt code 49320) only, which the surgeon devoted more time to. I cannot find any information on what falls under the cpt code 43771.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
