how would you code fractures of the tooth when not due to trauma? the doctor put fractures of the teeth, hpi there is no injury the pt does have periodontitis and tooth abscess..thank you, alice
 
If the Dr. did not document the cause. You can use E codes E928.9 & E849.9. Unspecified environmental and accidental causes & Injury or poisoning occurring at/in unspecified place.
