If my surgeon only does facetectomy - removes 2 facets that were fractured and then does fusion c3-c6. Can you bill for the facet removals if he didn't do a laminectomy? I'm thinking no. Just wanted to see if anyone came across this specific issue. The only thing i could possible consider is 63045 with 52 modifier. Not sure if this qualifies or not. Any input?

Thanks,

Lynda

no you can not bill a laminectomy code if he does not document doing one, however, I would look at the 22326 and 22328 codes, sounds like he is doing the surgery for a fracture repair and these codes may meet criteria.
