Hello! I'm working denials where patients are only being seen for contraception. The denial is that V25.09 is an unacceptable primary diagnoses code. How else would a service like this get coded?


"She recently became sexually active, used condoms and wants to discuss birth control options"

V25.09 is acceptable first listed, however it may be a non covered service by the payer.

Office Manager

Prior to 10/1/15 I have always billed a V25.40 and been paid, now I will use Z30.40 hope this helps.
