Hi,

Patient was admitted on 15/6/2019 and discharge on 16/6/2019 and patient consulted one physician in the morning (99251-99255) and in the evening he was discharge from the hospital(99238-99239). can we code both 99252 with 99238 on the discharge day?

Hi.
In need of a little more information in order to give concrete advice.
If the one physician is not part of the same group that admitted the patient then yes he/she can bill the consult?
But it sounds as if this should be an observation status if the patient was admitted and D/C'd the same day. If that is the case, the consulting physician would bill the appropriate outpatient E/M 9920x - 9921x with POS 22.
The admitting physician would bill the observation codes (99234-99236).
Most insurances no longer accept consult codes you should confirm with the carrier.
