Wiki diagnosis coding question for r/o

hi any one can help me

pt came for nm gastric emptying study and doc wrote on script r/o gastroparesis

on result says no evidence of gastroparesis was noted.

there is no sign and sym what is my admit and primary code based on report.
and ins is medicare and this is for hospital outpt
i use admit and primary as v71.89 is this is correct?

You could certainly use V71.89, or you could query the ordering physician for the signs/symptoms and code those. We've been trying to always get our doctors to give the signs/symptoms instead of just r/o - but sometimes it's a losing battle!
