For critical care patient whom received critical care for a total of 70 mins, would 99291 be coded once? If, not how would this be coded? Thanks.

per CPT book 99291 x1 is for minutes 30-74. There is a handy chart in the CPT book that converts minutes into codes and units. Its sort of based on the time rule. You must get to 50% of the time specified in the add on code to bill it.

30-74 = 99291 x1
75-104 = 99291 x1 99292 x1
105-134 = 99291 x1 99292 x2
135-164 = 99291 x1 99292 x3
165-194 = 99291 x1 99292 x4
195- XXX = continue the pattern above
