I am looking for a CPT for a pediatric office where I can apply the BMI and exercising counseling codes on the specific line. The reason is sometimes the preventative cpt code is full with other codes and what happens is the BMI and exercising codes get pushed further down on the HCFA and our Medicaid Plans are not seeing it in the first 4 dx spots on the claim for tracking purposes.

Thanks for any input

Jennifer

Have you looked at your HEDIS codes?

3008F - Body Mass Index (BMI), documented (PV)
2001F - Weight recorded (PAG)

Ryan, do you know what the (PV) and (PAG) stand mean?
(PV) identifies the clinical topic - Preventative Care and Screening and (PAG) identifies the clinical topic - Pediatric Acute Gastroenteritis as 2001F represents ---> Whether or not patient 1 month through 5 years of age with a diagnosis of acute gastroenteritis had weight measurement recorded. Here is the resource: https://www.ama-assn.org/system/files/cpt-cat2-codes-alpha-listing-clinical-topics.pdf

Thanks,
