Wiki CPT 72070 BEING DENIED BY HEALTH NET STATING THIS CODE CANNOT BE BILLED BY A ANESTHESIOLOGIST

Hello-
We are getting a denial for code 72070. Our Dr. is an anesthesiologist/pain management Dr. who regularly orders x-rays. We have never had a denial with this reason. Anyone have any advice or have had this denial before?

Good morning thank you for your response. Our provider is a Pain management-Anesthesiologist and he bills for x-rays all the time and we've never received a denial for this before. I personally think it's a erroneous denial.

Then you need to contact the health plan for more information. There are any number of reasons the claim could be denied and while I think we're willing to help, we're just guessing at reasons without more details from you regarding the denial.

Thank you I did contact the Health plan and they are stating the denial is because his specialty is listed as Anesthesiology, which as I've previously stated has never occurred.

Then pull out his Radiology License and call Contracting and see what it takes to have Radiologist added as a second specialty.
