how would you code Neuropathy due to chronic RA and Sjogren's syndrome?
A 714.0 583.9 353.6
B 390 710
C 710.2 714.0 355.9
D 357.0 710.2 716.90

I want to choose C but I need to know if I am correct and if not how can I learn from this

C looks right

First i looked up Syndrome > Sjogren's in the index which came to 710.2 which knocks out A & B. For the test id normally go straight for the tabular but i know syndromes are easy to find in the index so i did that first.

Second i looked up 357.0 which the tabular listed as a fairly specific diagnosis which no way fits the scenario so that left me with C. Also C is the only one with a code for RA.

They key is to start first with figuring out what the difference is between the 4 answers. If there is a code that is in all 4 don't waste your time looking it up. If its in 3 i save it for later in case its a tie breaker. If its in 2 I'd look that up first to figure out which 2 to throw out first.

Here's some vids on youtube i ran into about narrowing down multi-choice ICD-9 questions.

Here is one on doing the same for CPT
