I need a second opinion...I am coding paps for public health department, we perform the pap but send it to a outside lab for results, how do others bill this? :confused:
 
Coding paps

Our practice codes the pap CPT 88142 with modifier 90 indicated it was sent to an outside laboratory. However our patients aren't billed by the laboratory - all lab charges are included in our charge for the pap smear.
