Hello,

I have an op report for a patient and the physician stated it was an impending malunion. He did state the fracture is 3-4 weeks old and had to remove a significant amount of callous in order to fixate the fracture. Is this coded as a malunion or as an acute fracture?
it is of the distal radius so either a 25400 or 25607, 08, 09 codes??

Any advice or articles on this would be extremely helpful as I am having a hard time finding anything.

Thank you in advance

Too much missing information in order to help. No way to tell if this was a shaft, extra-articular, intra-articular fracture and the number of fragments. An impending malunion is not a malunion.
