Hello! We had an OB patient come into our ER and deliver a stillborn baby. We do not have OB here at our facility so I am unsure how to bill this correctly. I am going to bill a 59409 for Mom. What do I bill for baby? Thank You!

Hi, you wouldn't bill for the baby with a cpt code; you would use a diagnosis code for it. When I code for deliveries, the order should be whatever "O" code the mother needs by reading the H&P and then Z37.1 which is for a single stillbirth.

Thank You so much for your help! It is greatly appreciated!
