If a patient was admitted to Inpatient with acute kidney failure (N17.9) due to obstructive and reflux uropathy due to BPH, which would be your principal diagnosis since the code for obstructive uropathy says to code first, if applicable, any causal, such as : enlarged prostate and the AKI states to code also associated underlying condition? The reason for admission was due to the AKI, but it was found to be due to the other obstructive and reflux uropathy (N13.8) caused by BPH (N40.1).
